Montage Resources has assembled an executive management team with a history of success in Appalachia and over 109 years of combined oil and gas experience.

John Reinhart, President & CEO

John serves as President  & Chief Executive Officer .  Mr. Reinhart joined Montage’s predecessor Blue Ridge Mountain Resources in September 2016 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Reinhart served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer with Ascent Resources from September 2014 to April 2016. Before joining Ascent Resources, Mr. Reinhart served as the Senior Vice President – Operations & Technical Services with Chesapeake Energy from August 2013 to September 2014, leading over 1,400 employees in support of the company’s development programs. Prior to that time, he served as Chesapeake’s Vice President – Operations, Eastern Division from February 2009 to August 2013, overseeing the company’s operations and development activities in the Marcellus and Utica shales. Mr. Reinhart joined Chesapeake in 2005 and initially held key positions in engineering and asset management in the Mid-Continent region and also established and managed the corporate Engineering Technology Group, which support corporate operations as technical advisors specializing in facilities, completions, drilling, artificial lift and chemical optimization. Before joining Chesapeake, Mr. Reinhart worked for Schlumberger from 1994 – 2005, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in technical, operational and leadership roles. Mr. Reinhart graduated from West Virginia University in 1994.

Michael Hodges, Executive Vice President & CFO

Michael serves as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.  He joined Montage’s predecessor Blue Ridge Mountain Resources in September 2018 as the Senior Vice President Finance. Prior to joining the company, from August 2016 to September 2018, Mr. Hodges served as the Chief Financial Officer of PayRock Energy II, a private exploration and production company focused on developing oil and natural gas assets within the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas. Prior to joining PayRock, Michael held the position of Chief Financial Officer for Ward Energy Partners, a private-equity sponsored upstream business focused on developing liquids-rich assets in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma and the DJ Basin of Colorado and Wyoming. Beginning in 2012 and continuing through 2015, Michael served as the Chief Financial Officer of Rex Energy Corporation, a publicly-traded company focused on developing natural resources in the Marcellus Shale of Pennsylvania and the Utica Shale of Ohio. Michael began his career with Chesapeake Energy Corporation in 2001 and subsequently worked for SandRidge Energy, Inc. from 2007 – 2012 in various accounting roles of increasing responsibility. Michael received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Oklahoma in 2000 and an M.S. in Energy Management from Oklahoma City University in 2017 and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Oklahoma.

Matt Rucker, Executive Vice President & COO

Matt serves as Executive Vice President & COO.  Matt previously served Montage as the Executive Vice President Resource Planning & Development for Montage Resources until June 2020, where he led the subsurface, planning,  and land teams. He joined Montage’s predecessor Blue Ridge Mountain Resources in November 2016 as Vice President Development and Planning.  Prior to joining the company, Mr. Rucker served as a Production Superintendent overseeing Chesapeake Energy’s Utica Shale production. As a member of Chesapeake Energy’s Eastern Division leadership team, Mr. Rucker focused on the safe and efficient optimization of production in the Utica Shale and led an operating team of over 45 employees. During his service at Chesapeake Energy, Mr. Rucker held several engineering positions in the Marcellus and Utica Shale Asset Teams, primarily focused on strategic joint ventures, divestitures, acquisitions and resource development planning. Mr. Rucker graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering at Marietta College in 2007, where he continues to serve on the Marietta College Industry Advisory Council. Mr. Rucker is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.


Paul Johnston, EVP & General Counsel

Paul serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Johnston has 32 years of increasing responsibility and management experience in all facets of general corporate, finance, securities and regulatory-related legal matters. He is a former partner with the Dallas-based law firm, Thompson & Knight, LLP, representing both private and publicly held companies during a twenty-year career with the firm. Mr. Johnston also has seven years of in-house counsel experience, including as Vice President and Corporate Counsel for a NYSE listed Fortune 250 company, and most recently served for three years as General Counsel for an SEC registered investment advisor involved in the management of onshore and offshore hedge funds. Mr. Johnston graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History (with Honors) in 1977, and received his Juris Doctorate degree (with highest honors) from Texas Tech University in 1980. While attending law school, Mr. Johnston was a member of the Order of the Coif, and served as Managing Editor of the Law Review. Texas Monthly magazine listed Mr. Johnston as a Texas Super Lawyer in 2004 and 2005.

Tim Loos, SVP Accounting and Finance

Tim serves as Senior Vice President – Accounting and Finance and is also the Company’s principal accounting officer. Mr. Loos joined the predecessor firm Eclipse Resources in July of 2014 and served as the Vice President of Finance having overseen various areas including Financial Planning and Analysis, Investor Relations and Financial Reporting during his tenure. Prior to joining Eclipse, Mr. Loos served as Business Specialist for EQT Corporation where he was responsible for developing financial budgets and forecasts, financial analysis and financial modeling. Prior to joining EQT, from January 2009 to January 2013, Mr. Loos served as the Manager of Gas Accounting for CONSOL Energy, a diversified energy company operating predominantly in the Appalachian Basin. From July 2007 to December 2008, he served as a senior auditor for Deloitte & Touche LLP. From October 2003 to June 2007, he served as senior auditor for UHY LLP. Mr. Loos received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from John Carroll University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. Mr. Loos is a Certified Public Accountant, having received such designation from the State of Virginia in 2005, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
